About Big Kahuna Swim Academy
Big Kahuna Swim Academy was founded in 2015 by the foundation’s CEO, Tenaya Goldsmith. The company started off as a for profit company, but in 2020, Big Kahuna made the transition to being a Non-Profit Organization. Big Kahuna Swim Academy is now the Official Swim Program of the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation.
CEO, Tenaya Goldsmith
Tenaya originally started Big Kahuna Swim Academy in 2015 with the sole mission to prevent childhood drowning. Having a classmate in high school drown because they didn’t know how to swim properly, she jumped at the opportunity to learn about this life saving skill.
With a love for nonprofits, charities and wanting to help all children of all backgrounds to learn to be water safe, Tenaya decided to take the big leap and make her company a nonprofit organization – the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation. Big Kahuna Swim Academy is the Official Swim Program of the foundation.
“With Tenaya’s Instruction the Results Have Been Nothing Short of Remarkable.”
“WOW I dont really know what else to say. I was actually so impressed with what Tenaya was able to to with my toddler that I wanted her to spend some time with my 7 year old as well. My 7 year old knew how to swim but needed some help with her strokes. Basically in 3 short weeks Tenaya helped advance my daughter from where she was at all the wat to where she was ready for a pre-competitive swim club. She’s just amazing.” – Anne S.
